Sue's Diagonal Delight
Here's a picture of Sue in her blue Diagonal Delight Cardigan. Sue says:
"Just finished my Diagonal Delight cardigan and am very pleased with it. It turned out perfectly ....I put off the last little bit of finishing because it was like a good book that you don't want to end.... I really enjoyed knitting it and will be proud to wear it."

Heather's Tote Bags
When I taught workshops for the Ottawa Knitting Guild (Canada) recently, Heather Ablett brought her tote bag to show me. After taking my introduction to miter squares class the last time I visited Ottawa, she designed and knit some tote bags from plastic bags.
Heather lined her totes with cotton. She says she's used the larger bag "for about 3 years now. I had to replace the handles about a year ago as that's the only thing worn out. I've even thrown it in the washer (in one of those mesh laundry bags)." How cool is that for a recycling project?

Aren't they cute?

Pat Tittizer's versions of Maureen's designs
The M. Benz gallery is
currently displaying over 80 things Pat Tittizer has knitted over the
years.
Included in the display are 3 hats that Pat knit from my patterns: both
versions of T-4-2 and the diamond star 2. She used KnitPicks Wool of
the Andes for the hats.

Wild Blueberry Jam .
Here's Lissa Hurwitz's "wild" blueberry jam colorway. She wrote
to the Ample Knitter's list, "Something has possessed me, and I've been
knitting like mad on what I'm calling my Wild Berries jacket. It's the
Blueberry Jam jacket by Maureen MJ, but I chose completely different
colors, and I looooove it." |

Peggy's Blueberry Jam
Here's a photo of Peggy Hagen wearing her version of my design, Blueberry Jam, which she recently completed. She writes that she wore the sweater to a meeting: "My "meeting" last night was a storytelling program at a senior citizen's residence. One woman told me after the performance that she enjoyed my story, but was distracted by the "luscious" sweater I was wearing. I guess I'll have to be selective in where I wear it!" Peggy did a wonderful job knitting the sweater and doesn't it look great on her? She made my day! Congratulations, Peggy! |

A Flower for Annabelle Hat.
This hat was made for a friend suffering from cancer. Knitters and designers from all over Canada and the U.S., contributed chemo cap designs to a tribute pattern booklet for Annabelle. Proceeds from the sale of "Annabelle's Caps" will be donated to the Cancer Society.
My hat was made using Shelridge Farm DK weight soft wool and 4 mm (U.S. 6) size needles. I knit it using slip stitches because they were just one of the many techniques I learned from Annabelle. The hat starts off with a slipstitch brim and goes into mitered diamonds which, when joined at the crown, form a sunflower with a bright blue centre. Annabelle likes sunflowers so I wanted to knit her one.

Brown Mitered Squares Vest.
This mitered square vest was knit with over 30 yarns from my stash. It's mostly wool and mohair in a DK weight and was knit with 4 mm (U.S. 6) size needles. The colors are mostly browns, tans, and mossy grey-greens but there are also dashes of denim blue and burnt orange. The front band is garter ridges ending with a burnt orange stripe. For the hem, I picked up the along the finished edge of the vest and knit a variation of Barbara Walker's afghan stitch in garter stitch. This vest was fun to make and I like to wear it with jeans or a denim skirt for casual wear. I also use it in my "Hello Domino! An Introduction to Mitered Squares" workshop. |

Aqua Mitered Squares Jacket.
Again, this is a "stash" sweater. I like to amass yarns with a particular project in mind. When I figure I have enough yarn and color choices, I begin knitting. This sweater is made of DK weight cottons and ribbons, some plain, some fancy and sparkly. I knit the 3-cornered mitered squares in seed stitch using a 4 mm (U.S. 6) size needle. The jacket has slide slits and short sleeves which makes it comfortable to wear during our hot, humid Toronto summers. A garter stitch front band and buttons that look like beach glass finish this jacket. |

Pink Chevron Strip Vest.
This vest was made to wear during a trip to California so it is made of bright, crisp colors (and lots of them!). I used a variegated yarn from Katia as the main color, and a variety of close to 40 DK weight cottons for the contrast colors. It was knit on 4 mm (U.S. 6) size needle in strips which I joined together as I knit. The finished effect looks complicated but is really easy to do -- you only knit with one color per row. I should also mention that I weave in all yarn ends as I knit so there is a minimum of finishing. The front band is knit in garter stitch using the variegated yarn only. This vest was a lot of fun to make -- like knitting a painting! |
