Watermelon Vest
Modular shells are joined as you knit to form watermelon slices stacked layer on layer. The shoulder seams are the only sewing required. Striped garter stitch finishes the front band. Shells are knit using garter stitch, seed sttitch and a simple slip stitch pattern. The sample was made using mercerized cotton yarn in a DK weight. The slight sheen gives the vest a crisp look -- a nice touch for ripe watermelons. The pattern contains 5 sizes ranging from 39" to 49".
